Oh my gosh, it's been several months since I've updated my last blog entry! The last entry was actually one day before I had taken on a second job. My life was pretty busy for awhile. I loved that second job, it was as a part-time helper for a competition bikini tailor/vendor. The owners there are lovely people who care not only about their clients and business but, take care in making their employees feel comfortable as well. I cried the day I told them I had to quit, I tried so hard to find a complimentary job to go with that job and it just wasn't working out. I hope to work again with them in the future, it's been a great experience.
I worked there for several months -and- if I haven't announced it already I GOT CHOSEN FOR MAKER FAIRE! I think they announced it in late February or early March and I've been working on items for it since then. I might post the progress photos of them up, I dunno yet...or wait till they are all done and take photos. That's taken up a lot of time as well, I had to work on Maker Faire items between 2 jobs and seeing friends and family and attempting to do chores...and commissions I had picked up.... It was fun and helped fill in a lot of empty time.
Things you will see at Maker Faire in K.C....
The White Valkyrie Duality Dress, I'm still working on the black one but, I don't think i'll have time to finish it for the Faire, I've been having a hard time finding feathers that work for the White Valkyrie and it's going to be just as time consuming for the black dress....so unfortunately it won't be at the Faire.... :(
New Succubus Armor! This new armor is what I originally wanted to do when I first started doing the succubus armor. It has lots of roses all over the place. I took my inspiration for it from one of my favorite videogames, Castlevania.
New Angel Armor! This one was unexpected, I decided to tweak the succubus armor pattern to save some time and voila! An angelic version of the succubus armor.
Assorted Helmets, some of them are ones I made when I first started Foamsmithing and those will be available for people to try on and play around with for photos. There will also be display ones just to look at like the Frazetta helmet I tried to replicate.
Assorted armor pieces like bracers, belts... Not too much of these as I'm running out of time.
Assorted Headdresses... I've made headdresses, halos, circlets, tiaras in the past and I'm debating whether they will mesh well with the foam armor displays. *shrug*
As part of the educational process of my booth, I'll be working on pieces of armor that people can watch me do. I'll try to answer questions to the best of my ability and make it a fun experience.
Other art projects besides Maker Faire I've been up to....
I was selected by RAW: Natural Born Artists to show in Omaha, Nebraska and St. Louis...however I asked for a different time to be selected as happy as I was to be selected. It was just too soon (early June) and collided with time that I would be dedicating to Maker Faire. I have been drawing artwork for an author, it's coming about too slowly and i'm trying to brainstorm ways to get his art faster to him. I've commissioned my sister to make me a dress, it's coming around lovely... I'll be modeling for a photoshoot sometime with the next few weeks...I applied for a job in Illustration, I'm not sure exactly what it all entails but if they choose me I'll find out...
Just so many things, it's an organized chaos in my head. I just need to make some kind of Gant chart or the like to show time dedicated to each project.
I musn't forget! I'll be attending the 20th Anniversary of the Labyrinth of Jareth in Los Angeles in August!!!! I'm so excited, I never though I'd be able to go in my entire life. It's going to be such an experience. I'm still looking up things to wear for this!
