I've kept most of my updates to Atelier Lioncion - Designer on Facebook. The format has just been easier to quickly take a photo of a craft project and upload it online with searchable hashtags. Also my website's editing program isn't user-friendly for mobile devices just yet and it has been another obstacle in creating updates for my site. However...now that I have a portable desktop I can concentrate on this website. I find updating this site to be more fun (when it doesn't glitch and delete my posts) than the impersonal Facebook posts, the Facebook posts just reach more people. I also have a public Instagram if people are interested.
Okay! For the Craft Haul I've found some interesting items that I wanted to share and some I've already started to apply to possessions I own.
1. Taxidermy Feathers
I've been interested in taxidermy for years and have a couple of friends who sell taxidermy curiosities and oddities on a regular basis. I came across at a thrift store a couple sets of wings. I'm not sure what kind of bird they come from, possibly a pheasant? If anyone can identify them I would appreciate it. They are beautiful and I'm still thinking on what to make with them.
2. Taxidermy Bat
This one I don't have a photo for yet, it's being shipped as I type this from Asia. Once it comes in I'll be making a gothic-themed oddity for my home décor.
3. Resin Flowers
These hard resin flowers were on sale at Michael's for 2.50 each. They were in the scrapbooking section and come in a variety of colors. I picked up some variations of pink, red, purple and blue. I don't do scrapbooking but, these would be perfect to make rings or jewelry with.
4. Iridescent Trim
This was found at Hobby Lobby and was an impulse buy, the intent was to see if it would go with one of the two wedding dresses I'm sewing for myself. Some brides keep their giant wedding dresses on through the whole celebration and some brides change into a smaller white dress, I'm kind of going a somewhat similar route.
Impulse buy, I dunno, they were like 0.80 cents. I have no idea really what to do with them, coffins are cool but, as far as artistically doing something with them my imagination is a bit limited. I may resell them if they sit in my craft storage too long.
6. Carousel Horse
I was attracted to this horse immediately, my friend made a faux cake with carousel horses for an art project, she didn't want to destroy it after the project and has lent it to me to use as decoration in my home. It perfectly fits my romantic fairytale sewing room and this horse, with a little repaint to match the horses on the cake will be a pretty decoration in that room. It's front leg is broken and I'm using a type of epoxy putty over an armature and have sculpted it a new leg and unicorn horn. I'll be using a dremel tool over the hardened sculpt for fine details and then on to painting! The other thing I have to fix is the stand, it's very loose and a touch from a screwdriver will set it right. This item was found at a Savers.
Crowns, crowns, crowns. The Crown Prince and her obsession with crowns. I have so many crowns in my home for decoration, I can't get enough of them. I have found some 3-dimensional crowns that are small enough to fit the heads of some creatures in my home and have applied them accordingly. One has gone to Berlioz, my black owl who scares the crap out of me, even with a sparkly inviting crown he still stares into my soul and I cower on the couch. The other has gone to my newest statue, a crow, after the book an artist I admire showed me last year. I've been seeing more on the shelves with the Christmas holiday approaching and I will be sure to be snatching those up thank you very much.
8. Glass fish
Two years ago my friend gave me glass fish and I had no idea what to do with them. I thought they were quite ugly, to be honest, but, kept them because of their shiny coating. I've recently been creating curiosities with them and will be unveiling those in the future. Ah, the curious mind of the Crown Prince, made tangible in art.
9. Plastic wings
I don't really know what the design purpose was behind these were. They appear to form a heart in the middle and are drenched in glitter, the kind that comes off when you touch it (I hate things like that). It's a gradation color of teal and gold. I originally thought of attaching it to the carousel horse and found it distracting. I'm still unsure what I'll be doing with them.
10. Crow statue and Stag statue
I dig statues, I admire people who can make them. I'm usually on the hunt for traditional, classical figures for my home décor but, lately I've subconsciously gravitated to animal statues, possibly a nod to all the taxidermy I've been oogling online. The stage statue will not have anything added to it, it's beautiful on it's own. I did have to remove a white muff on it's neck which I felt took away from the powerful silhouette of the buck. He sits proudly, head high and antlered glory, on my bookshelf in my livingroom. The crow statue was an accident, I ran into him during a sale. I already like birds and crows have interesting silhouettes. I've had a small interest in them in the past and have found they can add an interesting feel to romantigoth décor.
That's it! I'm on the hunt for a neck ruffle for the crow statue and a cage for the bat that will be coming in from the mail. I'll post those up when I'm finally finished with them.
Looking forward to the grand party this weekend. I'll be taking photos and maybe video of the festivities, with around 20 people coming I'd like to capture the moment of us all coming together in my new home.
Love x Peace
P.S. My Crown Prince Lioncion account on Facebook is still down until the end of November. I've missed a lot of updates from people from late September to now online and I hope to reconnect with you all very soon.
