Afternoon everyone!

It's coming down to the long stretch before the first big geek convention of the year here in Kansas City. It's really unfortunate that Naka Kon1 and other conventions like the robotics convention happen around the same time as Planet Comic Con2 as I would fancy visiting them as well. I have a few things made (not all of them have been photographed yet) it's rather exciting preparing to show crafty wares at such a large and well known event.
I'll be working again, a second year, with Omnia Phantasia3. Last year was my first year working with her. She asked me the year before the last if I wanted to help her model a Poison Ivy outfit and I agreed. I have found It takes the previous year to spend the time (at least) talking about what to do the next year after.
Last year was my first time on a stage ever for any convention. Omnia Phantasia likes to use the free advertising to her advantage and I'm perfectly fine in helping her with that.
It's going to be a little different this year since I've had LASIK surgery. The year before when I needed to go on stage and I got a bit of stage fright it would be okay since I couldn't see anyone anyways. I think I'll be okay this year since I've already done it once, twice actually if you count the stage at the Smallville Comic Con4. I've been going to conventions since I was 15 years old, Planet Comic Con being my first con. If I hadn't decided to go to college and get a degree I might have done fairly well being a vendor for conventions, a pro at it by now. Late start is better than never.

Aside from the convention, I've been doing photo shoots again. You know? I've always felt it kind of strange to just ask someone to take your photograph or agree to meet up with a photographer you've never met (A stranger essentially; you talk online, you check portfolios and credentials) to have such an "intimate dance" such as the photo shoot. It's like you have to look lovingly or intensely at the lens and speak to not only the photographer but, to the millions of other viewers who will see it once it's posted up. It's kind of a strange thing if you really think on it. I may not fit all the conventions of a professional model but, I enjoy it. Especially, since I found that I may have to jaw surgery in the future and even then, as I confessed to photographer Tom Krekow5, I'd still continue modeling anyway.

My new tenant/roommate is a light-hearted individual, he's the youngest brother of a friend of mine. I agreed to take him under my wing as I've known him to be responsible and low-drama for someone of his age. There are times when I realize how old I am like picking up after stray crumbs or spills or spraying the air because of "boy smells", however I can't say I've ever had a man cook me dinner (willingly without being asked) as often as he does. It's something I've had to let my rather independent tendencies have to relax on.  He is a vegan and all of his produce he buys is organic and I can say that the meals have been lighter on the stomach than your average meal. I think my favorite of the strange vegetables and fruit that have passed through my kitchen is the oddest most beautiful broccoli I've ever laid eyes on, the romanesco.

He's asked me to attend one of his ceramics classes and I look forward to the experience behind a pottery wheel and all it's meditations. Let's just hope my creations don't explode in the kiln!

The idea of creating is very important to me. I find it more productive not only in the craft perspective but, also for one's mind to create rather than be destructive. I think it helps me also see what makes a person tick, I've found in the past that I'm not very good when taking classes but, I can self-teach (to a certain degree) fairly well. I just observe and run my hands along someone's work and from there I create my own version of their technique.

I would like to write more, however this entry has already taken an hour to write and I need to run to do other things. I would like to update my page more often (now that I've purchased proper desktop internet again) and not just the blog here. I'll try to get to more of the other pages as well.

Thank you all for taking the time to visit!

XOXO

C.P. Lioncion
