How can I not make Titanic references with a character named 'Sea'star who wears a heavy necklace of emeralds and 'sapphires'. Evening all, I haven't too many progress ventures on my costumes. I am, however, looking forward to be moving into my first home next week! It has been difficult to do much of anything around the apartment other than packing and sleeping. I do want the remainder of my time, as I'm waiting, not to be wasted completely on the hypnotic powers of Netflix and YouTube. It's been about a month since i've bought craft materials from anything other than a flea mart or thrift store so I decided to give Hobby Lobby a look over. It is very easy to lose focus amongst the labyrinth of shining stones, fire glazed pots, silk flowers and vast array of overpriced, quixotic knickknacks -most abundantly from an out-of-season holiday. I think I killed an hour in there before I ever got to where I had originally intended to wander, but let's keep that between us okay? I finally made it over to the fabric section, if you can call Hobby Lobby's fabric section a section. All the ones in the Greater Kansas City Area's selection are tiny, so it's more like a remnants collection. I like to rate my craft stores from greatest to least-applies-to-my-kind-of-craft. JoAnn's rates at the top of my list for it's enormous library of textiles, it has the greatest variety to choose from for a cosplayer like myself. Hancock Fabrics comes in second, with a descent selection of fabrics at sometimes half the cost of JoAnn's and you don't have to yell into a megaphone to get someone to cut yer damn fabrick. Hobby Lobby and Michaels can be a toss up for me, both have wider items in terms of smaller crafts, painting, and miscellaneous art supplies. Occasionally, you will find little bits of magic in Wal-Mart, mostly price-wise for sewing tools like pins and fray check. Syracuse: How long are you staying? Ondine: Depends, I guess. Syracuse: On what? Ondine: On you. Syracuse: On me? It depends on me, you can stay forever. Ondine: Forever? Syracuse: Forever, happily ever after, once upon a time...[1]
Other items I encountered as I window shopped, was lacy trims for Lyanna Stark[3]. I found a few that were nothing close (style-wise) to what I would want, blue roses which were overpriced for not being silk and 40% off patterns for something I could work with for the Vampire Masquerade[4]. It's best to wait till those puppies are 0.99 USD a pop.
That's really all for now. I'd like to close this post out with a best wishes in the afterlife to actor and comedian Robin Williams (July 21, 1951 – August 11, 2014)[5] who touched the lives of millions with his vivacity and wit. My favorite movie by him is Where Dreams May Come, Right up there with Dead Poet's Society and Good Will Hunting. Thanks for helping us believe in magic and tickling that inner child within us all. You won't be forgotten.
